Have you ever baked or cooked something before? Well, guess what! It is all related to science. Baking and science are connected in many ways. Just imagine. Who would have thought of baking as a science? When you bake, you are changing the chemical properties of a substance by heating it. A chemical property describes a substances ability to change into a different substance; a chemical change is the process by which the substance changes. Chemical reaction is another way to say chemical change. In class this afternoon, I realized that all baked and cooked goods are outcomes to a chemical reaction. In addition, when you bake you may also use formulas. Formulas are definitely connected to both science and math. Who knew you could think of baking as a very important science?
I used the the Textbook...

Buiding blocks of the universe
This is a really interesting blog. Before, I had never thought about cooking being chemical/physical changes! From now on when I am cooking I will think more about these kinds of things.
ReplyDeleteWow! i agree with bizziebii2015! When cooking, I never thought that it was a chemical reaction. This blog also made me think about how math and science are used in simple daily lives. When I walk to class, I am using both math AND science! LOL!
